Carly Sanchez recently joined SunTrust as Senior Vice President of Talent Acquisition and Diversity with responsibility for strategic planning, processes, policies and operations across SunTrust. Most recently, Carly served as Global Head of Talent Acquisition and Chief Diversity Officer for AIG, with responsibility for all AIG businesses globally. Having joined AIG in September 2010, she held prior roles at AIG, including Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Diversity Officer for American General Life Companies, an AIG business in Houston, Texas.
Prior to joining AIG, Ms. Sanchez served as director of strategic staffing at USAA in San Antonio Texas, where her responsibilities included building a world class college recruiting program and leading the recruiting teams for USAA’s Property and Casualty Company, its Federal Savings Bank, and all customer service units for the headquarters in San Antonio. She also held a number of roles in higher education administration, including serving as director of college relations for the Riverside Community College District (CA), with responsibilities for press and media relations, legislative relations, and external program development; and director of admissions and recruiting for Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
Ms. Sanchez received her bachelor’s degree in English literature from Harvard University and a master’s degree in developmental psychology from Tufts University. She has served as an instructor in community colleges and at Texas A&M Kingsville. She is a member of the National, Tri-state and Texas Diversity Councils, and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Diversity Council. She and her husband, Dr. Howard Sanchez, are looking forward to completing their move from San Antonio, Texas to Atlanta.
