Danette Johnosn works on Turner’s People Development team as director of organization development, diversity and inclusion. In this role, Danette leads a team focused on people and performance to build greater capability on the individual team and divisional levels while also driving awareness for inclusion both on and off air. Her internal clients span Turner’s portfolio – TNT, TBS, Turner Sports, Cartoon Network, truTV, Ad Sales, CNN, Turner International and the corporate division – where she specializes in employee engagement and care motiviation, senior facilitation, public speaking, coaching, change & resilience and generations in the workforce. Prior to this role, Danette spent four years as a senior organization development consultant and 18 months as the director of executive development for Turner People Development. Through the mid-2000’s, she managed wide-ranging special projects primarily focused on diversity, recruiting & retention and overall employee culture as the director of workplace initiatives for CNN. She joined human resources after a six-year stint with CNN public relations and CNN International. In addition to numerous management learning programs, Danette is a certified facilitator/coach for the Human Performance Institute’s Corporate Athlete Program; Center of Creative Leadership’s 360; Leadership and Organization Agility Profile, Hogan’s Leadership Forecast Series Assessment and earned an Organizational Development professional certification through the National Traning Labratory (NTL) and Sherpa Executive Certification Coaching program through the Univesrity of Georgia. She joined Turner Broadcasting in 1996 as a tour guide after earning a bachelor’s degree in mass communication with a concentration in public relations from Towson University in Baltimore. She has been based at CNN’s worldwide headquarters in Atlanta throughout her 20-year tenure at Turner.
